What's up?

Friday 13 January 2012

Judging by the date of our last Blog entry, I need to start off with an apology for leaving it so long! I suppose in many ways its a good sign. Pili Pala has been busy!! 2011 to be a year of growth and change and I am really proud of what we have achieved since starting the company two years ago.

So what's on the cards for Pili Pala Childrenswear 2012? For starters, we are kicking off the new year with a new collection! Our Fifth collection sees the return of our trademark stripes! Now two versions are available: thin stripes in red and grey organic cotton jersey, plus our chunky stripes in our beloved organic velour in new shades of blue and light blue. We are also really excited to introduce organic cross weave in shades of and red and blue, plus very cute organic gingham! Not to mention some AMAZING Welsh merino wool slippers! New styles include button front dresses and dungarees as well as besting selling jumpsuits being continued. The result? A very special collection that offers consumers and retailers more choice. And I didn't even mention that we still manufacture everything in a beautiful converted farmyard led by the fab Bob and Lynne! Gosh...Pili Pala rocks! I can say that can't I??? In a humble way! :) Seriously though folks...thanks for making 2011 so great. Your support and belief in our beautiful clothes makes me all the more determined to prove that 2012 will be even better!

Pili Pala Hits the Road!

Thursday 19 May 2011

Well folks its that time of year when Pili Pala likes to stretch our legs and dust the winter cob webs off our shoulders! We are getting ready to hit the road! First stop...the Royal Welsh Spring Fair this weekend 21st and 22nd May.  The Royal Welsh is located in an otherwise sleepy town known as Builth Wells...in Mid Wales..most famous for The Royal Welsh Show held every summer. The Spring Fair is a smaller affair but is a fun day out for the whole family...especially if the sun is shining! Fingers crossed! This year Pili Pala will be tagging on to the Green Horizons Exhibition located in the  Montgomery Pavilion and we are really excited!! We love doing these type of shows. It is such a great way to personally meet your customers, get great feedback and make new friends and contacts!

It goes with out saying that our lovely organic childrens clothes will be going with us! Our sunny organic  T's, dresses and cosy velours all essentials for this time of year bring colour and fun to such events and we can't wait!

Wish us luck and hope to see you there!

xx

The Big B

Wednesday 19 January 2011

It is that time of year for Pili Pala when we are getting ready to launch our new collection for trade. Needless to say it is an exciting but stressful time for us. Our new collection usually makes a début at a trade show and for the 3rd time running, this trade show will be Bubble, London.  The lead up to this event is quite immense. Not only does it not come cheap, but there is always a fear that no one will like the collection or almost worse no one comes to the stand! Its kind of like having one those anxiety dreams where you turn up to an event with no clothes on! No??? Maybe that's just me then!

Putting fears of not turning up dressed aside, I am really proud of our new collection. For the first time ever, Pili Pala will be introducing pink into a collection. If you have followed our previous collections then you will understand that this is BIG news ! Now for all you pink haters out there...don't worry...trust me...we wouldn't just do ordinary pink would we???!

In case you are a retailer reading this...short orders will be available on the new collection, which means for all you shoppers out there and providing the buyers like the new collection (fingers crossed!)  you will be able purchase this wonderful new PINK stuff this spring / summer!

Retail bit again: We will be at Bubble, London on the 30th & 31st January, stand VD4. Come see the PINK stuff!!

Wish us luck!!!

Ps. If you are new to Pili Pala...Pili Pala specializes in organic kids clothing all made by wonderful hard working people in Wales!

Tuesday 11 January 2011

Every once in a while, we like to share what our customers think of us and this one from Emily really touched us. It makes all the hard work worth it! So thanks again Emily! Toby...you look delicious!!

"Received my order on Saturday and the trousers are just gorgeous! I'm so impressed. Have enclosed a pic of my toddler Toby wearing them. We don't have a lot of money but where possible we like to buy British, or local, and support uk businesses to try and be ethical. With so much low quality clothing coming into stores, dirt cheap, it's great to see someone like you making such funky clothes! My Grandma is from Powyss too! :-) I will spread the word amongst friends, and keep an eye out for your sales! Emily x"

A reason to be cheerful this January!

Wednesday 05 January 2011

Like a lot of people this time of year, you might be feeling a bit over consumed! These days holiday gift shopping starts earlier and earlier and the high street seems to be endlessly promoting one sale after another. It is easy to feel confused and stressed out about what to buy people. So, by the time January rolls around and we have gotten over the shock of how much we have spent on loved ones, the last thing we want to hear about is another sale! It is with this in mind that I promise to make my pitch quick! The Pili Pala Winter Sale is now on! Save up to 50% on selected items!

Now...what I hear you asking makes our sale different to all the others? Well it is quite simple.. Pili Pala is an exclusive childrenswear brand all lovingly made by great people in  Wales and England. Not only are you getting quality organic kids clothes for a bargain price on selected items, but you are helping to support independent businesses that can not compete with the giant retail chain stores and their BIG sales! A reason to be cheerful indeed!

Quack Quack

Tuesday 19 October 2010

We just had to share this brillant review of our organic bird print T shirt. It truly made our day. Thanks Marius!

“I’d chosen a In the Night Garden top that my mum had bought my daughter for her to wear today. She refused point blank saying ‘quack quack’. I thought she’d lost the plot until she went and pulled ...out your birdprint top and started to put it on. She never turns down the opportunity to wear Night Garden clothing! You’re bigger and better than my daughter’s favourite TV programme!”

Hot off the press!!! Pili Pala's latest photo shoot for Spring/Summer 2011 finished on Saturday. What is it that they say....never work with children or animals!!?? Of course it rained right in the middle of the out door shoot and there were a few emergency trips to the loo's, split juice boxes and a bit of mud flinging...let's just say the kids had a blast and the grown -ups needed an extra glass of wine that night...but on the whole....we got it...the clothes look picture perfect. Thanks kids! For a bit of extra fun..we also filmed some behind the scenes which we will share with you very soon.

Model Matilda wears Pili Pala organic T shirt in red and navy with matching leggings  and organic dungaree dress in raspberry red.

Top Tips for Surviving the Summer Holidays!

Tuesday 27 July 2010

Six weeks holiday can seem like an eternity when you’re faced with entertaining small children. We hope you’ll find our top tips useful for keeping little ones busy and prevent the inevitable cry of ‘I’m bored’ from them and ‘help’ from you!

1. Plan a beach treasure hunt. If you’re on the beach and fancy five minutes to yourself create a treasure hunt for your kids. Write a list of items that can be found on a beach e.g. shells, seaweed, bird feathers, driftwood... and send your kids searching. If you’re in need of some real quiet time, add a few items that will be hard to find! Keep an eye on them whilst they comb the beach for goodies and reward them when they return with their bounty.

2. Raining outside? Close the curtains. Turn off the lights. Turn up the music. Dance! It’ll make you and your kids feel great and with the curtains closed your neighbours won’t be any the wiser!

3. Camp out in the back garden. Pack up a picnic and pitch up your tent in the back garden. You don’t need to go far to have fun!

4. Bake! Everyone loves cake. Adult t-shirts make great ‘cover all’ aprons on small kids. Cover them up and get out the baking ingredients. Cupcakes are easy to make, quick to cook and you can spend ages decorating them with icing, raisins, chocolate buttons and even edible glitter.

5.  Pili Pala's personal favorite! Snail races. Cut out a large circle of cardboard and either paint or mark concentric circles on it. Send the kids searching around the garden for snails and once everyone has a snail each place them in the centre of the cardboard and watch to see which snail makes it to the outside of the circle. Make sure you play this outside or you’ll be searching high and low for the snails!

6. Get together with other mums and hire the village hall. Play party games such as musical chairs, sleeping lions, stick in the mud... A cheap way of having a party with no need for presents. Your kids will have a great time and you’ll have a chance to catch up with other mums!

7. Have a weekly theme! You can devise your own little projects to occupy little minds. Go for bugs one week and go bug hunting; read the Hungry Caterpillar; hire ‘Bug’s Life’ and create model bugs using egg cartons and pipe cleaners! Other themes could include monsters, fairies, countries, super heroes or magic – try thinking of themes which have books or films associated so that you have some quiet time whilst they read or watch a film!

8. Build a castle! Visit a castle for some inspiration or ‘Google’ some images of castles. Make a plan and then raid the supermarket for cardboard. Construct a castle using the cardboard and some masking tape, painting it and cutting out windows. The bigger the better!

9. Make spoon people. Buy wooden spoons from supermarkets’ value range and dress them up using felt, left over fabric and wool. Paint or draw faces on and host your own spoon ‘puppet show’!

10. Be a local tourist. Visit your local Tourist Information Centre and rediscover what’s great about your area. Take your camera, write a postcard to the grandparents and treat your day out as if you’re visiting the area for the first time – even better if you can find the time and money for an ice cream!

Enjoy! Let us know how you get on and send in some photos – we love hearing from you.
