Thursday 20 January 2011Press Release
Organic
children’s clothing company Pili Pala Childrenswear will launch its Autumn
Winter 2011 range, the company’s fourth collection, at Bubble London in
January.
Building
on the established collection of comfortable, ethical and environmentally
sustainable clothes for fashion conscious children; the new range features
exciting and colourful pieces in which are trans-seasonal, unisex and, above
all, fun.
New
styles being added to the collection for Autumn Winter 2011 include fleece
lined hoody jumpers, limited edition organic cord dresses, cosy toes baby
leggings, a stylish empire line dress and a new style of trousers. The current collection of long and short
sleeved t-shirts, leggings, babygros, underwear, blankets, bibs, hats, bubble
hem dresses, jumpsuits and shorts will also be expanded to include new colours
and fabrics.
New colourways and fabrics
The
new collection features strong pieces in vibrant new colourways - items in soft
pink, deep purple and striking teal are introduced. The bold red, navy and red stripes and the
chocolate brown colours which form part of the Pili Pala family will also
feature strongly in the new collection with popular pieces being carried over
from the SS11 collection.
Organic
corduroy and fleece are being introduced to add warmth and a greater variety to
the collection which already includes the softest organic cotton and velour
pieces. Maintaining the company’s strong
environmental stance, all fabrics used within the Pili Pala range are organic
or a mix of organic and recycled materials.
Pattern and print
A
new addition to the printed fabrics is a quirky and cute bluebell print which
adds an exciting twist to the pink cotton range. The bird and bird house print, introduced
during the Autumn Winter 2010 collection and loved by Pili Pala fans, features
prominently in the new collection and will be available across a the whole range.
Commenting
on the launch of the new range, Berith Lochery, founder of Pili Pala
Childrenswear said “I’m truly excited by the new pieces included in our Autumn
Winter 2011 collection; designing them has been a very rewarding experience. Responding to customer comments and
suggestions, we’ve introduced items in pink, teal and purple with highlights of
chocolate brown and fantastic new prints.
I hope that our new collection will stand out from the crowd and ensure
that we continue to provide comfortable and fashionable clothing for kids which
are ethically sound.”
Berith
continues: “Since the launch of our first collection in 2009, the feedback from
our customers and fans has been extremely positive. Our customer base has grown substantially and
we’re increasingly servicing a global market with a greater number of
international stockists. From initial discussions with retailers, our new
collection is destined to hit all the right notes.”
All
of Pili Pala’s clothes are produced using organic fabric and ethical
processes. Designed and manufactured in
the UK, the garments are a fantastic combination of sensational style and
comfortable clothing which are produced without compromising on ethical or
environmental standards.

We’re really proud of our stockists.
They really care about children, the environment and our clothing. Babi Pur is one such company which sells Pili
Pala clothing online and in their lovely Porthmadog store.
The company was established in 2007 by husband and wife team Peter and
Jolene. Following the birth of their
first daughter, Harriet, they found city
life quite challenging and decided to leave the insurance companies they worked
for and return to Jolene’s home town of Porthmadog.
Inspired by their daughter and the need to ensure she was dressed in
ethically produced clothing and played with toys that would stimulate and
educate her without damaging the environment, they set up an internet company sepecialising
in ethical babywear, childrenswear and accessories. 2007 was a particularly busy but exciting
year for Peter and Jolene as Isobelle, their second daughter was born and
cemented their belief that children should be brought up in a world which
encouraged fair trade.
If you’re looking for a gift for someone special, or fancy a peek at their
shop, take a look at their online shop.

Wednesday 24 November 2010On Monday evening we ventured out in the cold for
our annual sensory overdose at the Fair.
Every November the fair visits Aberystwyth and we go along for an
evening of fun.
We drink in the air which is heavy with the
heady smells of hotdogs, fried onions, hot sugar and donuts. We go from one ride to another, trying not to
be scared by the speed and height achieved by some of the rides.
The flashing lights, loud music and shrieks
of excitement all contribute to an evening where our kids are jumping up and
down, pleading for us to let them have ‘just one more go’.
It’s hardly an organic experience, but for
one night of the year, we think it’s great!

We’re getting ready for Children in Need
day tomorrow! We have spotty outfits and
spotty cakes all ready for our fundraising efforts with Pudsey and Blush. We
even have some spotty teddy ears which look really quite attractive!
The welfare of children is naturally very close
to our hearts here at Pili Pala Childrenswear so we’re really looking forward
to getting involved and raising some money for children’s causes here in the
UK.
So, what do you have planned? Sponsored silence? A fancy dress party? A bake off?
Let us know what you’re planning and keep sending in your photos. We’d love to see what you get up to, the most
innovative fundraising efforts and how much you manage to raise for this worthy
cause.
Most important of all though is to make
sure you dig deep. Please take a minute
and visit the BBC’s Children in Need web
page and, if possible, please make a donation.

BOO!
Did we scare you? No?
Didn’t think so. We’re more Casper the Friendly Ghost than Nightmare on Elm Street over here!
We’ve
had a great time this Halloween. We’ve
been pumpkin carving, dressing up as witches, vampires and ghosts and had
friends over for a spooky tea. We’ve
been apple bobbing, trying to grab sweets from the top of flour mountains using
our mouths (and getting covered in flour in the process), telling scary stories
and generally having a great time.
After
the sugar rush of today, we’re planning on turning the glut of pumpkins we have
into some tasty pumpkin
soup – ideal as a warming lunch on these cold days. Yum!
Hope you’ve had a great Halloween. Keep sending in your spooky photos, we always
love receiving them. You can also post
them to our Facebook page!

Saturday 23 October 2010Yippee! It’s
half term. No school runs. No uniforms.
No packed lunches. Lie-ins! OK, if you’ve managed to figure out the last one
please let us know – ours have been up since the crack of dawn and don’t quite
understand the concept of ‘please let mummy sleep just a little longer’!
So, what have you planned for the week ahead? We’re
hoping to have a jam packed week of fun activities. But we’re kicking off the week with a very
civilised cup of coffee in our local arts centre. Aberystwyth Arts Centre is
the largest arts centre of its kind in Wales and we love the fact that it’s on
our doorstep. Today is the launch of
their Christmas fair (yes, we know it’s only October, but come on, Christmas
will be here in 62 days)!
This year, the Christmas fair is better than
ever. There’s a whole host of local and
Welsh suppliers there from organic honey, funky photographs, crafty presents
and some rather delightful organic childrenswear – we have a stall! We also have some very special additions to
our collection at the fair which include our new organic cotton birdprint
babrygro, organic vest and hat in baby blue.
Another addition is our brown and green velour babygro (also organic
cotton and recycled fabric) – imagine a mini version of one of our jumpsuits
and you won’t be far off. They do come
with a health warning – they’re so cute they’ll make you very broody!
So, if you’re in the vicinity, or even fancy a
daytrip over to West Wales, call over to the Arts Centre for coffee and a cake you
won’t be disappointed with the cake or clothes selection, we promise!
PS Don’t worry if you can’t make it over here just
yet, the fair goes on until Christmas and the babygros will be available online
before too long!

Thursday 14 October 2010There’s something
special about the Rheged Centre in Cumbria. An award winning day out,
it’s also Europe’s largest grass covered building. Designed to resemble a
Lakeland hill, the centre is home to 10 shops, outdoor and indoor play areas,
craft workshops, a conference centre, a 3D digital cinema and the all
important cafe.
The shops at Rheged
take pride in stocking things that are a little bit different and offer a
choice of products that aren’t found on many high streets. Their newly
refurbished children’s store has just become that little bit more special as
they’ve become one of our stockists. Rheged is also the first store to
receive delivery of our 2011 collection – a mix of rich red outfits and vibrant
red and navy stripes. The kids of Cumbria are looking mighty fine in
their trendy outfits.
So, the next time
you’re heading to the rolling hills of Cumbria, or if you’re lucky enough to
live there – pop in to the Rheged centre for a cuppa and some quality retail
therapy!

Tuesday 05 October 2010We’re
busy collecting conkers this week. We
spend ages scavenging through leaf litter under the huge Horse Chestnut trees
to find the spiky green balls. Minding
our fingers we carefully peel back the prickly shell to reveal the brown shiny
seed. It’s one of the great joys of autumn! We don’t know about you, but we also love
wandering through the woods, collecting bright orange leaves to make collages
and running through the puddles of leaves everywhere. When the rain stays away, it’s a great time
to be outside don’t you think?
So,
back to conkers. We’re out and about
searching for the biggest, fattest ones. We then line them up and select our
best ones ready for a conker battle. By
the way we’re not allowing any sneaky tactics involving vinegar dunking or nail
varnish to harden them! We’ve just been making a hole through the middle(ish)
and threading shoelaces through them before going for gold and taking it in
turns, walloping each other’s until someone wins! Great fun!
Go
on, send us your conker battle photos to news@pilipalachildrenswear.com
